My attempt at making a quilt I will actually sleep under! You may notice in the video that Jenny Egg does not stay of my bed... She has to sleep with me, touch me, and snuggle... So I need a quilt that is not WHITE! The quilt I currently have on my bed, is laying upside down, so the backing is face up... It looks great in my rom, but I want something a little more patchwork-y!
So here I am using Browns and pinks. The fabrics I am using are:
Using easy HST's and Four patches, I am getting a lot of movement among these blocks. I'm loving it, but need some selfish ME time to get it finished...(things with no deadlines seem to take me a lot longer to finish!) It will be a KING size quilt.
My current quilt which I made YEARS ago, before I was serious about quilting, uses a random dresden wedge shape. I sifted through my scrap bins and stash and puled all my "not so pretty fabrics, and then added in a pretty fabric to each set, to make them all look nice together, Which, actually made a really beautiful quilt! (it's a good challenge and a great way to get rid of a few old fabrics in our stash! How can you bring new eyes to old fabrics and make them look vibrant and pretty? PLAY! VFW QUILTS DRESDEN TEMPLATE
Now I use my VFWquilts Dresden template. I have a new quilt pattern coming soon, but this is a very easy handy tool to have in your stash... 22 blades makes a full circle... I used appliqué glue to hold my dresden circle in place on a giant quilt block, next used Bias tape to top stitch the circles into place on the basis tape. easy to deal with that raw edge! No appliqué!
I also used it to make this sweet customs quilt before Christmas... More on that coming soon!

Quilt Market has finished, and we are in full swing for the International Quilt Festival Houston! Festival was kicked off with the awards ceremony on Tuesday night, and look what happened??
Mr. Swirl E. Bones, by myself and quilted by Shelly Pagliai, Won 3rd place in the Innovative Pieced Category!
We are thrilled! Winning anything at Houston Festival is a huge honor, and we thank the IQA org. and judges, and Tin Lizzie for sponsoring our category!
I also have a quilt in a special Exhibit called, "Patterns" for the Dinner@8 Artists.
This is my quilt, "Coarse Woven"... this was a fun quilt to make, incorporating as many layers as I could visually, by using myManor Stripe fabric,(which looks really cool cut up and re assembled as well!) This quilt is 40" x 40", machine and hand quilted.
It's been an amazing 9 days here, so far. A couple more days to go!
Coming to Quilt Festival, You can stop by to say hi to me at these booths and times:
Inspired by one of my own quilts, Cloudy Day, I designed this line of low-volume, fresh prints, infused with a few pops of natural, bright colors. A complete collection that will look amazingly scrappy all together, making "light work" for the quilter!
My Quilt CLOUDY DAY, was my inspiration for this new line... I can't wait to share it with you! It sure looks good on my home-away-from-home, hotel room here in Houston for the next 10 days!
I was lecturing this past weekend at the Warwick Valley Quilt Guild, (Warwick, NY) so we decided, "We being my awesome team", to VEND at the Show. I often vend on my own when I lecture and teach at guilds, but to have a real booth display etc is all new to me. I can tell you we had a great time! This is good prep for us, as we will be VENDING at QUILTCON, February in Savannah, GA!
I think packing was the hardest part to whole experience... But I think we did a pretty good job!
A great turn out for the two lectures I gave, we were definitely having some Extreme fun! It was such a GORGEOUS weekend, I was surprised so many came, as it was perfect apple/pumpkin picking time! ;-) I never did get my cup of hot apple cider.... mmmmm.
Here's the FIRST new product I can share with you today!
